Winter

Also in winter is our guesthouse Steigerhof the perfect place to be. The skiing areas GitschbergJochtal, Plose and Kronplatz are reachable without any problems. There are various activities next to skiing or snowboarding.

If you want to do anything offside the skiing slopes you can cross-country ski, snow-shoe-hike or just make a winter hike at the beautiful alp of Rodengo-Luson. Enjoy the South-Tyrolean dishes in one of the traditional and cozy alpine lodges.

Welcome to Rodengg Castle

The Rodenegg Castle towers over the Rienz Gorge. This privately owned building houses the oldest secular wall paintings in the German-speaking world, with the 13th century Ywain frescoes forming the heart of the Castle.

Fane Alm

… nestled in the spectacular Pfunderer mountains. Fane Alm is a mountain pasture dotted with shingle-coated residential huts and haylofts, a small church and three inns. It has been named “South Tyrol’s most beautiful Alpine mountain resort”.

Rodenecker-Lüsner Alm

… is the longest high alpine pasture in Europe and can be reached by car or bus. The wide with all too steep hiking trails, the lovingly managed huts and the beautiful mountain scenery guarantee an adventurous day.
